You know you are an adult when. . .

You see the toilet paper hanging from the trees and in the yards and think, "That's a week's worth of TP hanging in those trees. Why would they WASTE it?"

Halloween pranks start early around here because of all the school rules and town rules prohibiting rolling of yards, soaping of windows, and miscellaneous mischief. The powers who be are out in force on the days immediately preceding and following Halloween, but they are resting now and the yards, browned with drought, are now white though there is no forecast for snow - ever.

I was never a yard roller because my dad had us in the house by ten o'clock, but I always thought it would be a cool thing to do. Even after my yard rolling years, I craved the adventure of some major prank. I even wished someone would roll my yard so people would think I was cool. Now, I think about the waste - of trees used to make the paper, of money used to purchase the wasted toilet paper, of energy to produce the paper and to clean the mess. Does age, maturity, and responsibility equal rationing of Toilet Paper squares and boredom? Or does it equal sanity?

You are right!!! When I was writing this I had a smile on my face. I never really undersood why the local police and school principals get so worked up about this bit of mischief when there are such huge problems elsewhere.

Did you ever?

Yard roller? I've never heard that term, learn something new every day.

I was a TPer. Loved it. Great, innocent fun. (Except for the time we hung condoms in a cute boy's tree -- I wonder what his parents thought!)

I'm not grown up yet, I guess. I just laugh when I see TP in trees. Brings back happy memories for me of TPing and being TPed.

I TP'd once, in high school, but my favorite TP-related item: a neighbor/friend, when my kids were small, used to pack her teenagers and their friends in tha back of her truck to transport them to the victim's property. I was outraged until she explained, "I can evade the cops if necessary, and I can do it safely. These kids don't have the driving skills. Besides, if I let them go on their own, they'd buy the wrong brand of toilet paper. Our county fines by they roll. These kids would buy store brand thinking it's cheaper, but when your only consideration in length, Scott is the brand you've got to go with. Jeez. Kids these days. They need all the help they can get."

Those were the days, weren't they? When pranks were enough to be considered walking on the wild side! Tick-tacking was big in my area, as corn was readily available. You would get dried corn cobs, strip off all the hard kernels, and throw them on the porches of folks who didn't give out candy!
Thanks for the memory!

Thinking of throwing a few rolls for old times sake.
